Sounds great, but what is it?

Propane AutoGas is simply liquid petroleum gas, or propane, labeled for use in on-road vehicles. Propane AutoGas is the third most popular automotive fuel in the world, behind gasoline and diesel, with more than 23 million vehicles powered using Propane AutoGas around the world. Propane Autogas vehicles burn cleanly and can run at higher compression ratios than conventional vehicles. This results in higher energy output, while producing lower emissions levels.

Gasoline powered engines can be converted to use AutoGas in place of gasoline or in conjunction with it. AutoGas has an effective octane rating between 104 and 112, and it performs similarly to gasoline in an engine with no knocking. Diesel engines can replace a portion of their diesel use with propane in a dual-fuel setup, but since propane does not easily ignite from compression like diesel fuel, it cannot entirely replace diesel fuel in a diesel engine.

Why should I convert my vehicle?

AutoGas is typically 30%-60% of the cost per gallon of gasoline, so even with a 1% – 10% fuel economy loss, it is incredibly cost effective.

Propane AutoGas also burns cleaner than gasoline, and with less harmful exhaust emissions. It’s better for your engine and for the air we all breathe. For more information on the environment benefits click here.

Are there any other benefits?

AutoGas is typically 30%-60% less expensive than gasoline, so even with a 1% – 10% fuel economy loss, it is an incredibly cost effective vehicle fuel.

AutoGas is a cleaner burning fuel than gasoline or diesel, which means with less harmful exhaust emissions and less wear on the engine. It’s better for your engine and for the air we all breathe. See our environmental benefits here.

Anyone who wants to save on their fuel expenses and help the environment can use AutoGas. Fleet managers will find propane to be especially enticing, since conversions will pay off more quickly the more miles driven. Propane AutoGas LLC has 6 public fueling stations in northeast Indiana, and there are 2,600 other AutoGas stations around the country. Propane AutoGas conversions are for individuals and businesses who want to save on their fuel expenses and burn a more environmentally friendly, domestically produced fuel.

Abundant Supply Produced in the U.S.

Choosing vehicles that run on American-made Propane AutoGas reduces dependence on foreign oil and keeps jobs at home. With more than 70 percent of propane production coming from domestic natural gas, the United States is producing enough of its own propane to exceed customer demand.
